A Love Letter to Fundraising Social Caterpillars

Hey, you.

Yes, I mean YOU.

You have such a big heart. You care so deeply for others and genuinely want to make a difference in this world.

You want to do work not just to inflate your own ego and line your own pockets, but to help lift up others. Because you know that the real meaning of life is in building, supporting, and laughing together.

So maybe you’re introverted, or shy, or quiet, or are just still figuring some things out. All of these things can be leveraged in your favor. Skills can be learned. Internal scripts can be rewritten. It’s your love for other people and making the world just a little bit brighter that will always make you shine.

Maybe you don’t feel like you have your voice yet, but I know you have a lot to offer. Maybe you feel like you aren’t quite as outspoken or charismatic or even as confident as other people seem, but trust me, your compassion is still very needed in this world and not to be overlooked. Who better to help others than someone who really takes the time to listen to their needs?

The work doesn’t scare you.  In fact, you work just as hard on improving yourself as you do for serving others.

How do I know all this about you? Because you and I are the same. We may not be the loudest voices in any room (and probably try to hide when we have to be) but I want you to know that I see you. I understand who you really are. And I think you’re beautiful.

Some people may not get why we care so much. Others might question why we are so determined to do what scares us. And some will wonder what we are even trying to do, because they won’t understand that what comes easily to them might not to us. And all of those things are okay.

And so are we. This world needs all of us. All of our personalities, perspectives, and points of view. We have so much to offer, and we have the responsibility and the honor to share it.

So thank you for deciding to give back more than you take. Thank you for really looking and really seeing. And most of all, thank you for deciding that magic IS real, if we are only brave enough to create it.

Welcome to the Tribe.
